Tuesday Night Echelon Ride
Apr 21, 2009
There will be a hard echelon ride starting from All Saints High School. The ride leaves at 6:30 from the corner of Rossland Rd and Country Lane.
The ride leaves with a warm up riding two up heading north on Country Lane. Turns left on Lyndebrook Rd over to Cornation
North on Coronation to Columbus Rd, east to and back north up Country Lane.
For those who need to tinkle they can on Pee Hill on Country Lane.
East at the top of Country Lane along Brawley Rd to Ashburn Rd and North again.
After crossing Myrte Rd in Ashburn we organize into an echelon, but at a steady pace. It gets faster and harder as the ride progresses.
Head north to Epson and turn around at the stop sign.
Head back south to Columbus Rd and turn west to Coronation.
Head south on Coronation to the sprint at a green mail box after the rise in the road.
The green mail box is not as far down as the sprint location we used to have. This way the hill has an effect on the sprint. I still need to check this line out and back to you.
Some places we need to worry about are; the patches of rough road by Ashburn and High Point Rd (just north of the golf club), also the slight twist in the road coming back on Coronation by Lyndebrook, just before the uphill.
Some other things to think about on this ride: If there are cars coming during the sprint we need to turn the sprint down. People should allow others to pass in the sprint. The ride north and back after we start in Ashburn will be an echelon ride, so no attacks, just fast hard riding. The pace should ramp up when we start but not blast off.
If you are dropped and you want to catch back on as the group returns on the route make sure you turn around well before the group returns as they will be traveling at a greater speed returning.
